Studio 117

FROM ZERO TO HERO

Studio 117 was a fascinating and very rapid project as it all appeared in the usual spontaneous way of Brazil and we needed to apply the so-called "jeitinho" to be pragmatic and be able to have a nice apartment we could live in within a few days.

This project had a double purpose:

1. When we arrived in Recife, we received the apartment completely empty (see pictures at the bottom of the page of how it looked). We needed to be able to live in this apartment asap.

2. At the same time, we knew that it will be used as an Airbnb Studio as soon as we would leave it. However, that meant the layout would need to be suitable for different people that want to rent it.

Since the apartment was empty, there was nothing we could upcycle as we would usually do in our projects. All furnishing needed to be bought fresh. There is no IKEA in Recife, but we were still looking for rather economically priced items that we could get and mount in minimal time. For some of the nicer pieces - like the woodwall, we decided to tailor the items by ourselves since we had a few days time before we needed to sleep there.

Below you see how the place looked when we received it from the owner and some in between steps from the project.

Below see some of the in-between steps to mount the wood-wall.
